FAQ

Everything you need to know

We’ve been walking dogs in Kensington Gardens since 2007. Here are the questions we’re asked most often. If yours is not here, please get in touch. We’re always happy to talk.

We are a couple who have been walking dogs in Kensington Gardens since 2007. Unlike larger companies, we do not employ staff. Every dog in our pack is walked by the same two people, every single day. This means your dog builds a genuine, lasting bond with their walkers, not a rotating roster of strangers.

We also operate entirely on foot within a very small area around Kensington Gardens, so your dog spends their time playing in the park, not sitting in a van, a metro, or a bus.

Because we only take on dogs who live within walking distance of Kensington Gardens, there is simply no need for transport. This means your dog’s two-hour walk is exactly that – two hours of walking and playing, not 30 minutes in a van each way.

Most of our dogs live just minutes from each other and from the park, so the walk begins and ends at your front door.

We walk in groups of four. This is small enough for each dog to receive individual attention, but sociable enough for proper play and interaction. Every dog in the group is carefully matched for temperament and energy level.

A minimum of two hours. Our dogs spend the vast majority of that time off-lead in Kensington Gardens, running, playing fetch, and socialising with their packmates.

No, we walk Monday to Friday only. We don’t operate dog walks in Kensington Gardens at weekends or on bank holidays. If you need weekend or holiday walks, we are not the right fit, but we may be able to recommend a trusted alternative.

We cover a very small area close to Kensington Gardens: parts of W2 (Bayswater), W11 (Notting Hill), and W8 (Kensington) only. This is a deliberate choice. By keeping our area small, we eliminate the need for any transport and ensure your dog spends maximum time in the park rather than in transit.

Kensington Gardens itself forms the western half of Hyde Park, 265 acres of royal parkland in the heart of west London.

Many of our dogs have been with us for years, some for nearly their entire lives. We have walked dogs from puppyhood through to old age. Over time, many owners have come to call us their dog’s second family. We still keep in touch with many long after their dogs have passed. It is not just a service, it is a bond that lasts.

Yes. All dogs must be neutered. We recommend dogs are at least 6 to 12 months old depending on breed, as our two-hour walks are physically demanding and we want to ensure younger dogs are fully developed before joining. Similarly, if a dog is elderly or has mobility issues, our walks may not be the right fit.

We only take on dogs whose needs we can genuinely meet, we would rather be honest than take on a dog we cannot properly care for.

We do not bathe dogs, but we will towel-dry them as thoroughly as possible if you leave towels out for us. Kensington Gardens after rain can be properly muddy, and we know your dog won’t always come home clean.

If you would like your dog completely washed, we are happy to drop them off at a local groomer after the walk. Just arrange the appointment to coincide with the end of our walk.

Yes. We provide treats and poo bags for every walk, included in the price. If your dog is on a special diet or you’d prefer we use your treats, just let us know and leave them out for us. We’re happy to use whatever works best for your dog.

Because we have a small, fixed number of clients and walk every dog ourselves, we know every key by sight, like we’d know our own. We never label keys with addresses or names, so even in the unlikely event one were lost, there would be no way to identify which home it belongs to.

No. Dog trainers are not the best dog walkers, and dog walkers are not the best dog trainers. We leave training to qualified professionals while we focus on what we do best – walking dogs.

That said, regular group walks can be hugely beneficial for a dog’s overall social behaviour and often help with minor issues naturally. However, if your dog has specific behavioural challenges, we would always recommend consulting a qualified behaviourist rather than expecting a dog walker to address them.

For our regular walking clients, we occasionally welcome dogs into our family home in Surrey when their owners are away. It is an extension of the trust and bond we already have, your dog knows us, we know your dog. No crates, no kennels, just two gardens, open space, and your dog living with us as part of the family.

This is not a commercial boarding service and is only available to dogs who are part of our regular walking pack.

We are members of the National Association of Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers, licensed by The Royal Parks, covered by public liability insurance, and have current DBS criminal background checks.

We invite you to join us on a walk in Kensington Gardens with your dog. It is the best way for us to get to know each other. You can see how we work, meet the pack, and your dog can meet our dogs in a natural, relaxed setting. There is no obligation and no paperwork. Just a walk in a beautiful park.

Because we love it. We started walking dogs long before it became a popular business. For us it was never about scaling up or maximising profit, it was about spending our days with dogs in one of London’s most beautiful parks.

That has not changed. We could hire staff and take on more dogs, but we choose to stay small. Every dog in our pack is known, understood, and genuinely cared for by the same two people who have been doing this since 2007.
